Verify model and serial numbers, gear ratio, input/output spline count and diameters, mounting/flange pattern, signs of corrosion or water ingress, oil condition, backlash/play, service history and whether seals or bearings were replaced.

Drain fluids, secure or cap openings to prevent contamination, block and brace on a skid, protect against salt and moisture, use certified lifting points, choose an experienced heavy-equipment carrier and insure the shipment.

Change gearbox oil at manufacturer intervals, inspect seals and bellows, check coupling alignment and shaft runout, monitor for unusual noise or vibration, replace sacrificial anodes if present, and log operating hours and service actions.
