Spline rollers are specialized forming tools used in bending and roll forming to create splines, grooves, or serrated profiles on shafts, tubes, and metal strips. They come in matched pairs or multipart sets with hardened profiles that transfer precise geometry through rolling pressure, ideal for high-volume production or repair shops needing consistent, repeatable spline features.
Check profile wear, pitting, and surface finish on the roller teeth. Verify concentricity, backlash, bearing condition, and whether mating rollers still align. Confirm material hardness, tooling history, and compatibility with your shaft diameters and press or roll-former.
Secure rollers in crating with supports to prevent deflection and protect the tooth profiles with sacrificial covers or padding. Stabilize bearings and lock shafts. Ship on a low-bed or palletized crate and insure the load; label as precision tooling to avoid rough handling.
Keep profiles clean and lightly oiled, inspect bearings and seals, check alignment before each run, and avoid overheating. Regrind or re-harden worn profiles and replace damaged bearings. Store rollers horizontally on supports to prevent bending.
