Seal Elastomers
RAM-GJ units are equipped standard with Viton™ O-rings, but for steam applications or special chemical processing two elastomer upgrades are available for special order:
Viton™ – Type A Viton O-rings (Durometer 75) are standard on RAM-GJ units. Viton™ fluoroelastomer performs at a wide range of temperatures, with oil and chemical resistance being unaffected by elevated temperatures. It also provides resistance to degradation by a wide variety of fluids and chemicals, including excellent resistance to oils, fuels, lubricants, and most mineral acids.
Aflas® – Aflas O-rings are suited for steam applications. TFE/P is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene with a fluorine content of approximately 54%. A unique material due to its resistance to petroleum products, steam, and phosphate-esters, TFE/P is ideal for heat transfer media, amines, acids and bases, as well as hot water and steam up to +170°C (+340°F). Service temperatures are (25°F) to +204°C (+400°F);
