Cone crushers are heavy-duty machines that crush rock by squeezing material between a rotating mantle and a stationary concave. They’re used for secondary, tertiary and fine crushing in quarrying, mining and recycling to produce consistent, cubical aggregate and mineral products. Cone crushers offer high throughput, adjustable closed-side settings (CSS) and robust wear parts to handle abrasive feed at higher compressive strengths.
Check the mantle and concave wear, gearbox and bearings, hydraulic systems, oil condition, frame cracks, and maintenance records. Measure eccentric throw and verify CSS range and adjustments.
Get weight and dimensions from the seller, confirm whether it’s a complete plant or standalone unit, and request quotes from heavy-equipment haulers. Include crane or forklift costs for lifting and on-site rigging.
Verify required horsepower, electrical service, foundation or skid mounting, feed height, and any hydraulic or control interfaces needed for integration with your feeders or crawler-mounted crushers.
Wear life depends on material hardness and feed size. Liners and mantles typically last hundreds to thousands of hours. Inspect liners regularly and plan replacements when profiles wear down or capacity drops.
Buy OEM or reputable aftermarket liners and bearings from crusher dealers or manufacturers. Keep a stock of common wear parts and fast-moving items to reduce downtime.
Daily checks of oil levels and leaks, weekly inspection of grease points and drive belts, periodic oil analysis and gearbox service, and scheduled liner inspections and replacements.
